Book 32, Question 35
Why does a python’s gut grow and shrink?
A big python may eat only a few times a year.
Scientists have found that its insides change. When a snake swallows a large meal, its intestines, heart, and other organs quickly grow bigger so they can break down the food fast. When the food is gone and the snake rests, those organs shrink back, which saves energy. It is an on-demand body.
