About

About A Million Whys and Million Whys Press

Million Whys Press is a Toronto imprint that publishes illustrated curiosity books for children and families. Its series, A Million Whys, answers the questions kids ask, one question at a time.

The series

Each A Million Whys book is a sequence of stops. A child asks. A scene opens. One short paragraph answers. Then the next question. Every page is one question, with a labeled picture, a real explanation, a wow fact, and a short try-this. The books are written so a parent can read a single stop on the subway and a kid can keep going.

Every book has 150 questions, and every question also has a short, friendly video answer on this site. Book 1 is for ages 7 to 11.

The author

Every title is by Crafty Clover. Crafty Clover grew up in a house where the walls held more books than furniture, and spent long afternoons sketching quiet scenes.

The publisher

“The job is not to sound smart. The job is to take a question a seven-year-old will not drop and give it a scene they can see.”

Tony Sung, founder of Million Whys Press
