Book 32, Question 34
How does warmth change how a reptile digests food?
A reptile’s stomach and gut work with chemicals that need warmth to do their jobs.
In a warm body, food is broken down quickly. In a cold body, digestion slows, and the meal could sit undigested. That’s why a snake that has just eaten often seeks a warm spot. Some reptiles even choose to bask more after a meal.
