Book 27, Question 92
Why do rock hounds follow collecting rules?
Places like national and provincial parks usually protect rocks, fossils, and plants, so taking them is not allowed.
On private land you must ask the owner first. Rules protect special places so everyone can enjoy them and scientists can study them. A good rock hound leaves the area as tidy as they found it, stays away from cliffs, and takes only what is permitted.
