What Crafty Clover says in this video

Intro

Hi there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. How long do baby reptiles take to become adults?

The Big Idea

Some reptiles grow up fast. Others take years and years! How long until they're adults?

Quick Growers

Step one: Quick Growers. It depends on the kind. Some small lizards grow up in about a year.

Slow Growers

Step two: Slow Growers. Many turtles take ten years or more to be adults. Giant tortoises take even longer, sometimes twenty years or more.

Food and Warmth

Step three: Food and Warmth. Baby crocodiles grow a foot or more per year at first. Growth depends on food and warmth, and a reptile's growing speed matches its size and lifespan.

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look! About a year. 10 years plus. Fast at first. Even longer.

Quick Facts

Quick facts! Bigger reptiles usually take longer to grow up. Some lizards grow up in a year. Food speeds growth. Warmth helps too.

Think Like a Scientist

Now, think like a scientist! Draw a growth chart. Add three animals: lizard, crocodile, and giant tortoise. Add marks to show when each is fully grown. Compare their times. Which takes longest?
