What Crafty Clover says in this video

Intro

Hi there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. Why do some snake moms wrap around their eggs?

The Big Idea

Some snake moms give their eggs a hug! They coil around them for weeks. Why?

Coiling Around

Step one: Coiling Around. A female python coils around her eggs after laying them. She stays there for weeks and guards the nest.

Shivering Warmth

Step two: Shivering Warmth. She can even shiver her muscles to make heat and keep the eggs warm. Keeping warm helps the babies grow inside.

Off on Their Own

Step three: Off on Their Own. When the eggs hatch, the mother leaves. The baby snakes slither off by themselves. It's a snug and careful start to life.

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look! Wraps up. Makes heat. Kept warm. On their own.

Quick Facts

Quick facts! A python may not eat while she keeps her eggs warm. Shivers make heat. She stays for weeks. Babies leave alone.

Think Like a Scientist

Now, think like a scientist! Warm a stuffed animal in your arms. Hug it for one minute. Then feel it with your hands. Notice how a hug keeps heat in. That's what a mother python does!
