Intro

Hi there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. What is jet lag?

The Big Idea

Your body has a clock inside. Flying far can confuse that clock. That mixed-up feeling is jet lag!

Body Clock

Step one: your body clock. Your body has an internal clock that tells you when to feel sleepy or awake. It follows the day and night where you live.

Time Zones

Step two: cross time zones. When you fly across several time zones, your clock is out of sync with the new place. You may feel tired during the day or awake at night.

Reset

Step three: help the reset. Sunlight, regular meals, and rest help the clock reset. It usually takes about a day to adjust for each time zone you cross.

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look! Your clock follows home day and night. New places have different times. Your body needs time to catch up. Sunlight and meals help it reset.

Quick Facts

Quick facts! Your body has an internal clock for sleep and wake. Flying across time zones puts that clock out of sync. You may feel tired by day or awake at night. It takes about a day to adjust for each time zone crossed.

Think Like a Scientist

Now, think like a scientist! Ask a grown-up for a world map or atlas. Pick a faraway city. Count how many hours difference there is from your home. That is how many time zones you would cross. Write the number and share what jet lag might feel like.

Outro

Jet lag happens when your internal clock still follows home time after you cross many time zones, so rest, sunlight, and regular meals help it reset day by day. Science is amazing! Keep asking questions! There is always more to discover, and you are a great science explorer! Thank you for exploring with me, and remember that every great scientist started with a curious question. Crafty Clover can be found on Amazon Books, Google Bookstore, and Apple Books.
