Book 33, Question 28
What is colostrum, the first milk?
The first milk a mother makes is called colostrum.
It is thick and often yellowish. It is packed with antibodies, which are tiny protectors from the mother’s body that help the baby fight germs. A baby’s body is new and not ready for many germs yet. Colostrum acts like a first shield. After a few days, the milk changes into regular milk.
