Book 32, Question 126
Are snakes really slimy?
No.
A snake’s skin is dry and smooth. It is covered with scales, which are tough, thin plates that can look shiny and wet but feel cool and dry. Snakes don’t make slime. People think they are slimy because they look slippery, but a snake’s scales are not sticky or wet. It is a good thing to know, but remember to watch wild snakes from a safe distance.
