Book 32, Question 12
What makes some snakes glow with rainbow colors?
Some snakes seem to glow with blue, green, and purple when light hits them.
That glow comes from tiny ridges and layers in the scales that bend and bounce light, not from paint-like colors. It is the same kind of effect you see in a soap bubble or a CD. The shimmer changes as the snake moves, which can make its body harder to follow.
