Book 32, Question 11
Why don’t reptiles dry out in the sun?
Reptile skin has scales and waxy fats that help seal water inside.
Because of this, they lose very little water through their skin, even in hot, dry places like deserts. Reptiles also don’t sweat. These traits help them live in places where other animals would dry out fast. Waterproof skin was a big step for animals living on land.
