Book 31, Question 97
How can an app tell which bird is singing?
A sound-ID app listens to the song and turns it into a spectrogram, the picture of the sound.
Then a computer program compares the picture to thousands of sound pictures it has seen before. If it finds a close match, it suggests a bird’s name. It works best when the recording is clear and there isn’t too much noise around. It is a helper tool, so double-check with your own ears.
