Book 31, Question 82
Why can parrots copy human words?
Parrots are among the few birds that learn sounds from others, and they have brain areas that are good at copying.
In the wild they use this skill to learn the calls of their flock. In a home, a parrot may copy voices, whistles, and ringtones instead. Most parrots do not understand all the words, but some smart ones, like African gray parrots, have learned to link certain words to objects.
