Book 31, Question 58

Why do birds turn their eggs?

A parent bird nudges its eggs and rolls them over many times a day.

Turning keeps the growing chick from sticking to the inside of the shell and helps it grow evenly. It also spreads warmth from the parent’s body across the egg. Without turning, many eggs would not hatch well. Birds do this by instinct, using their beaks, chests, and feet.
