Book 31, Question 57
How big is the biggest egg, and how small is the smallest?
The largest egg laid by any living bird belongs to the ostrich.
It can weigh about three pounds, which is about the same as two dozen chicken eggs. The smallest belongs to the tiny bee hummingbird, and it is about the size of a coffee bean or a pea. The size depends on how big the mother is, and on how developed her chicks will be when they hatch.
