How many people drink from the Great Lakes?
That's about as many people as live in all of Canada.
About 40 million people in Canada and the United States get their drinking water from the Great Lakes. The lakes hold about one-fifth of all the fresh surface water in the world. Because so many people share them, countries and communities work together to keep the lakes clean.
