Book 29, Question 53
What are aphids, and how do gardeners handle them?
Aphids are tiny soft insects, often green or black, that cluster on new stems and leaves.
They suck sap, which can curl leaves and weaken plants, and leave sticky droppings called honeydew. A strong spray of water often washes them off. Ladybugs, lacewings, and birds eat them. If needed, a grown-up can use soapy water spray. Healthy plants often tolerate a few.
