How can you attract helpful insects to your garden?
Plant flowers with small, open blooms such as alyssum, dill, yarrow, and cosmos, which give nectar to small helpful insects like lacewings and hoverflies.
Include a shallow dish of water with pebbles for landing. Leave a little wild area and avoid sprays. Some pest hunters will move in quickly when they find food. A mix of plants blooming across the seasons works best.
