Book 29, Question 27
Why are some garden seeds coated in clay or stuck on paper tape?
Tiny seeds, like carrots and lettuce, are hard to space out by hand.
Seed companies coat them in a clay-like layer, called pelleting, which makes them bigger, rounder, and easier to hold. Other seeds are glued onto thin paper tape at the right distances apart. You plant the whole strip, and the paper breaks down in the soil. Both tricks save work and mean less thinning later.
