Book 26, Question 106
How do engineers test a bike helmet?
Testers put a helmet on a head-shaped model that has sensors inside.
They drop it onto a hard metal surface from a set height, so every helmet gets the same test. The sensors measure how much shock reaches the model’s head, and a helmet must stay below a safety limit to pass. Helmets must meet standards before they can be sold. Testers also check the straps.
