Book 26, Question 78
How did a teenager invent a reading system for blind people?
Louis Braille lost his sight as a young child in France.
At fifteen, in 1824, he created a system of raised dots that people could read with their fingertips. He built on an army code called night writing. His version used six dots in a small cell, and different patterns stood for letters, numbers, and music. Braille is used all over the world today.
