Book 26, Question 77

Who invented earmuffs when he was a teenager?

He asked his grandmother to sew fur onto bent wire loops that fit over his ears.

In 1873, fifteen-year-old Chester Greenwood of Maine was out ice skating when his ears got very cold. Friends wanted them too. Chester later got a patent and started a factory. Maine still celebrates a day in his honor each December.
