Book 26, Question 79
What did a boy farmer's field have to do with television?
He sketched his idea for a teacher.
In 1921, fourteen-year-old Philo Farnsworth was plowing rows in a potato field in Idaho when he thought that a picture might be scanned line by line, like the rows of a field. In 1927, at age twenty-one, he made the first electronic television picture. Scanning in lines is still how screens build pictures.
