Book 25, Question 106

Why do cities have quiet hours and noise rules?

Loud noise at night can wake people up, and sleep is important for growing and learning.

That is why many cities have noise rules, called bylaws, that limit things like construction, leaf blowers, and loud music during late-night and early-morning hours. Quiet zones near hospitals and schools help patients rest and students think. Emergency work, like fixing a broken water pipe, can be allowed at any hour.
