Book 25, Question 105
Why are cities so noisy?
Cities have many sounds: cars, buses, trains, planes, construction, sirens, music, and people talking.
Sound bounces off tall buildings and pavement, so it stays loud between buildings. Hard surfaces reflect noise, while soft things like grass and trees soak up some. Cities try to reduce noise to help people sleep, learn, and feel calm.
