Book 25, Question 69
How do crews fix pipes without digging up the whole street?
Instead of digging a long trench, crews can dig small holes at each end of a pipe.
They can then pull a flexible liner through the old pipe and harden it into a new pipe inside, like a sleeve. Another way is horizontal drilling, which pushes a new pipe underground through a drilled path. These tricks save time and keep roads open.
