Book 25, Question 67
How do hospitals keep running during a power outage?
Hospitals have backup generators that start within seconds when the power fails, using fuel stored on site.
Some equipment also uses batteries, called uninterruptible power supplies, to bridge the gap. Backup power keeps lights, machines, and heating running so patients stay safe. Other important places, such as water plants and phone systems, have backup power too.
