Intro

Hi there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. Why do future explorers still want to return to the Moon?

The Big Idea

Future explorers want to return to the Moon because it is a nearby lab for science! It is a place to practise for deeper space, and to study water ice, rocks, and new technology. The Moon is a stepping-stone and a treasure map!

A Nearby Lab

Step one: a nearby lab. The Moon is the closest world we can visit, only about three days away by rocket. Scientists can study its rocks, which hold clues about Earth's early history.

Practice for Mars

Step two: practice for deeper space. Astronauts can test habitats, rovers, and spacesuits on the Moon. If something goes wrong, help is close, unlike on a trip to Mars.

Water Ice

Step three: water ice. Some deep craters near the Moon's poles never see sunlight, and they hold frozen water. Water could become drinking water, air, and even rocket fuel.

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look! A Moon base needs power, maybe from solar panels. It needs air to breathe, which can be made from water ice. It needs food, which may be grown in special gardens. And it needs fun, like games, so astronauts stay happy.

Quick Facts

Quick facts! NASA's Artemis program plans to send astronauts back to the Moon. Artemis is named after the Greek goddess of the Moon. Craters at the Moon's poles may hold a lot of ice. Rocket launches are for trained experts only. Watch with a grown-up from a safe distance.

Think Like a Scientist

Now, think like a scientist! Design a one-page Moon base. Remember to include power, air, food, and fun. Draw it, and show a grown-up! Share what you discover with a grown-up.

Outro

The Moon is a stepping-stone and a treasure map. Science is amazing! Crafty Clover can be found on Amazon Books, Google Bookstore, and Apple Books. Available for purchase or download! Bye for now!
