Intro

Hi there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. How can sloths hang upside down for hours?

The Big Idea

Sloths hang upside down for hours! Without getting tired. How?

Hook Claws

Step one: Hook Claws. A sloth has long, curved claws like hooks, and strong arms. It hooks them over branches and just hangs.

Locking Tendons

Step two: Locking Tendons. Special tendons in its fingers lock so it can hold on without using much energy. It doesn't have to squeeze its muscles all the time.

Resting While Hanging

Step three: Resting While Hanging. Because of this, a sloth can rest while hanging for a long time. It moves slowly and saves energy, a true champion of hanging.

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look! Hooks. Lock. Strong. While hanging.

Quick Facts
