Not for Walking

Digging and Tearing

Step two: Digging and Tearing. Bears use their claws for digging in dirt and tearing open rotten logs to find insects. They also dig up roots and burrows.

Climbing

Step three: Climbing. Bears use their claws to grip tree trunks and climb. In the wild, bears are best watched from far away, so always keep a safe distance.
