Book 32, Question 62 · Video
Which reptile is the fastest runner?
Among lizards, the spiny-tailed iguana has been clocked at about twenty-one miles per hour, which is faster than most people can run. Some snakes, such as the black mamba, can slither fast too, but not as fast. Most reptiles prefer short bursts of speed, then rest. Running fast uses lots of energy, so reptiles often sprint only when they need to.
