How well can a snake see?

What Crafty Clover says in this video

Intro

Hi there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. How well can a snake see?

The Big Idea

Snakes stare without blinking! But can they see well? How well can a snake see?

Shapes and Motion

Step one: Shapes and Motion. Snake eyesight depends on the kind. Many snakes see shapes and movement well, but their view may be blurry up close.

Sharp-Eyed Tree Snakes

Step two: Sharp-Eyed Tree Snakes. Some tree snakes have sharp vision. Some even have grooves on their snouts so both eyes can look forward together.

Using Other Senses

Step three: Using Other Senses. Snakes can't zoom their eyes as we do, so they use other senses along with sight. Different snakes use different senses most, like smell with the tongue or heat sensing.

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look! Easy to see. Blurry. Sharp eyes. Helps out.

Quick Facts

Quick facts! Some vine snakes have eyes that look forward. Movement stands out to snakes. Snakes use their tongues to sense. Close-up views may look blurry.

Think Like a Scientist

Now, think like a scientist! Squint your eyes and look across a room. Notice how details blur. Have a friend wave. Notice how movement still stands out. Snakes notice movement like that.

Outro
