Intro

Hi there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. What big bird secrets are still waiting to be cracked?

The Big Idea

Scientists have learned a lot about birds. But birds still have secrets! What big mysteries are still waiting to be cracked?

Magnetic Sense

Step one: Magnetic Sense. Scientists are still working out exactly how birds sense Earth's magnetic field. Many birds seem to use it like a built-in compass when they travel.

Songs and Species

Step two: Songs and Species. Scientists still wonder how some birds can learn so many songs. And nobody knows exactly how many bird species are out there, because new kinds are still found in remote forests.

You Can Help

Step three: You Can Help. A curious kid with binoculars and a notebook can help. Noticing things and sharing what you see adds to what everyone knows.

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look! How does it work? How so many? Still being found. Can help!

Quick Facts

Quick facts! Scientists describe a few new bird species every year. Birds can sense Earth's magnetic field. Remote forests still hide unknown birds. Your notes can help science.

Think Like a Scientist

Now, think like a scientist! Write down three bird questions you still have. Choose one. Plan how you could find the answer. Use a book, a grown-up, or careful watching. Share what you discover!
