Who pays for the water that comes out of the tap?

What Crafty Clover says in this video

Intro

Hi there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. Who pays for the water that comes out of the tap?

The Big Idea

Water falls from the sky for free! But tap water comes with a bill. Why?

Lots of Work

Step one: Lots of Work. Cleaning and delivering water takes a lot of work. People run treatment plants, repair pipes, test the water, and pay for energy to pump it.

The Bill

Step two: The Bill. Most families pay a water bill to cover these costs. The bill often shows how much water the home used.

Gift and Service

Step three: Gift and Service. The water itself is a gift of nature. Making it safe and bringing it to the tap is a service, which is why saving water can also save money.

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look! Cleaning. Fixing. Checking. Energy.

Quick Facts

Quick facts! Tap water costs far less per liter than bottled water. Families pay a bill. Workers keep it flowing. Saving water saves money.

Think Like a Scientist

Now, think like a scientist! With a grown-up, look at a water bill. Find how much water the family used. Find the cost. Write both down. How could you lower it?
