What is a lab-grown diamond?
A lab-grown diamond is a real diamond made by people. Scientists put a tiny diamond seed in a chamber and either squeeze carbon at very high pressure and temperature or grow it from a hot carbon gas, layer by layer. After days or weeks, the seed has grown into a larger crystal. It has the same atoms and structure as a mined one. Lab diamonds are also used in tools.

What Crafty Clover says in this video
Intro
Hi there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. What is a lab-grown diamond?
The Big Idea
Can people make real diamonds? Yes, in a lab! Let's see how it's done.
A Seed
Step one: A Seed. A lab-grown diamond is a real diamond made by people. Scientists put a tiny diamond seed in a chamber.
Growing
Step two: Growing. They either squeeze carbon at very high pressure and temperature, or grow it from a hot carbon gas, layer by layer. After days or weeks, the seed has grown into a larger crystal.
The Same
Step three: The Same. A lab diamond has the same atoms and structure as a mined one. Lab diamonds are also used in tools.
A Closer Look
Let's take a closer look! A seed starts it. Pressure squeezes. Heat helps. Carbon builds it.
Quick Facts
Quick facts! Diamond is used on saw blades because it is so hard. Starts with a seed. Grows layer by layer. Real diamond crystals.
Think Like a Scientist
Now, think like a scientist! Draw a tiny seed crystal. Draw a layer around it. Add more layers. Show the larger crystal. Label each step.
Outro
A lab-grown diamond is a real diamond made by people. A tiny seed grows layer by layer from squeezed carbon or hot carbon gas over days or weeks. It has the same atoms and structure as a mined diamond. Science is amazing! Keep asking questions! The more you look around, the more wonders you will find, so keep your eyes open!
