Book 27, Question 85
What is a lab-grown diamond?
A lab-grown diamond is a real diamond made by people.
Scientists put a tiny diamond seed in a chamber and either squeeze carbon at very high pressure and temperature or grow it from a hot carbon gas, layer by layer. After days or weeks, the seed has grown into a larger crystal. It has the same atoms and structure as a mined one. Lab diamonds are also used in tools.
