What Crafty Clover says in this video

Intro

Hi there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. Why do Canada geese stay in city parks all year?

The Big Idea

Canada geese are famous for flying south. But many now stay in city parks all year! Why stay?

Easy Food

Step one: Easy Food. Many Canada geese now live in parks and golf courses year-round. Short, soft grass is easy for them to eat.

Safe Places

Step two: Safe Places. Ponds give them safety. Few predators bother them in the city.

No Need to Fly

Step three: No Need to Fly. Because food is available, some geese no longer fly south. Geese protect their nests and chicks, so keep a safe distance and do not feed them.

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look! Parents stay together. Goslings follow. Ponds keep them safe. Parents guard the family.

Quick Facts

Quick facts! Canada geese can live more than 20 years. Keep a safe distance. Don't feed the geese. Some still fly south.

Think Like a Scientist

Now, think like a scientist! With a grown-up, observe geese in a park. Count the adults. Count the goslings. Notice how they stay together. Who leads, and who follows?

Outro
