Intro

Hi there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. How can you tell energy is there when you can’t see it?

The Big Idea

Energy is never seen on its own. It is a bit like wind, which you only see in the leaves it moves. So how do we know energy is there?

Look for Motion

Step one: look for motion. A swinging door, a bouncing ball, and a barking dog all show energy at work. If something is moving, energy is flowing.

Feel for Warmth

Step two: feel for warmth. A warm mug of cocoa tells your hands that thermal energy is there. Always check with a grown-up first, because hot things can hurt.

Spot Light and Sound

Step three: spot light and sound. A glowing screen and a ringing bell are energy in action. Light and sound are both forms of energy traveling to you.

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look! A swinging door is moving energy. A warm cup is heat energy. A bright screen is light energy. A ringing bell is sound energy.

Quick Facts

Quick facts! Energy is only seen by what it does, just like wind is only seen by the leaves it moves. A barking dog and a ringing bell show sound energy at work. Even a still object can hold energy that is ready to be used. If something is changing, moving, heating, or making light, energy is flowing.

Think Like a Scientist

Now, think like a scientist! Walk around a room with a grown-up. Point to five places where energy is at work. Say what changed in each place. Can you find energy even in a quiet room?

Outro

We can tell energy is there because we see the things it moves, heats, lights up, and sounds. Science is amazing! Crafty Clover can be found on Amazon Books, Google Bookstore, and Apple Books. Available for purchase or download! Bye for now!
