Intro

Hey there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. Why do kids have so much energy?

The Big Idea

Kids are always on the go, running, jumping, and playing. That is because a growing body burns fuel to move, learn, and grow, all at once. A growing body runs hot! Kids also have smaller bodies, so a little fuel goes a long way toward powering a burst of play.

Small Body, Big Jobs

Step one: a small body has big jobs. Your heart is pumping, your lungs are breathing, and your brain is thinking. Your muscles and bones are growing, too. All of that uses energy!

Fuel Becomes Go-Power

Step two: fuel turns into go-power. Food gives you fuel. Your body breaks it down and turns it into energy for everything you do. Kids often have fast, busy bodies, so they burn a lot of fuel.

Play Builds Skills

Step three: play practices skills, and then you crash at night. Climbing, running, jumping, and balancing build stronger brains and bodies. After all that going, sleep helps you recharge for tomorrow.

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look at where energy goes! First, food is your fuel. Second, your body turns the fuel into energy. Third, the energy powers moving, thinking, and growing.

Quick Facts

Quick facts! Play is part of the job, not a waste of time. When you play, your brain and body practice new skills. Energy comes from the food you eat and from sleep, too. Being active helps your heart and muscles get strong.

Think Like a Scientist

Now, think like a scientist! List three ways you used energy today. Think back over your day. Write down one way you used energy to move. Write down one way you used it to think. Write down one more. Which one used the most energy?

Outro

Your energy is a gift from food, sleep, and a growing body. Science is amazing! Crafty Clover can be found on Amazon Books, Google Bookstore, and Apple Books. Available for purchase or download! Bye for now!
