Intro

Hi there, curious minds! I'm Crafty Clover! Let's discover something amazing. Are there rivers on other worlds?

The Big Idea

Yes, there are rivers on other worlds, and some used to flow with water! Long ago, Mars had rivers, and scientists are exploring the clues. And on a moon of Saturn, rivers flow right now.

Mars Long Ago

Step one: Mars. Long ago, Mars had rivers, but today Mars is dry. Old channels and valleys, seen by spacecraft, show where water once flowed.

Jezero Delta

Step two: the delta. The Perseverance rover is exploring an old river delta in Jezero Crater. A delta is where mud and sand settled when water flowed there.

Rivers on Titan

Step three: Titan. On Saturn's moon Titan, rivers of liquid methane and ethane carve valleys. It is much too cold for liquid water there, so rivers are a common landscape builder.

A Closer Look

Let's take a closer look! Mars had flowing water long ago. A rover explores the old river delta today. Titan is a moon of Saturn. Rivers there flow with liquid methane instead of water, under an orange, hazy sky.

Quick Facts

Quick facts! Titan is the only other world known to have liquid on its surface today. Its liquids are methane and ethane, which stay liquid only in extreme cold. Earth is the only world known to have liquid water rivers today, which makes ours special. Look at the sky and space pictures with a grown-up.

Think Like a Scientist

Now, think like a scientist! Draw a river delta on Mars with channels branching out. Add a rover exploring it. Label the mud, sand, and channels. Then show your Mars river to a grown-up!

Rivers carve land on other worlds too. Science is amazing! Crafty Clover can be found on Amazon Books, Google Bookstore, and Apple Books. Available for purchase or download! Bye for now!
