For parents and teachers
Kids' safety and privacy
xdme.com is a place for kids to watch, read, play and wonder. Here is what that means for privacy, in plain words. Updated October 9, 2026.
For kids
- You never need an account or a password here.
- No ads pop up on our pages.
- Never type your full name, address, school, phone number or email on any website without asking a grown-up first.
- Some buttons, like "Watch on YouTube" or "Buy on Amazon", open a different website. Ask a grown-up before you go.
No ads, no tracking scripts
We checked every Million Whys page on xdme.com: the books, videos, question pages, topics, activities, printables, games and puzzles. They show no advertising and run no analytics, ad or tracking scripts. There are no "like" buttons or social media widgets that load from other companies.
No sign-ups for kids
Kids can use every video, question page, game, puzzle and printable without an account, a sign-up or an email address.
What is saved on your own device
A few features remember small settings in your own browser, using its local storage. Examples are the choice between English and Chinese subtitles on Book 13 and Book 14 videos and, where offered, reading badges and progress. This stays on your device and is not sent to us. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.
Search
The search page works inside your browser. The words you type are not sent to us or to anyone else, and they are not saved.
Ask Crafty Clover
When the Ask Crafty Clover question form is open, it asks for the question, and lets kids add a first name and an age group if they want. It also asks kids to tick a box to show a grown-up said it is OK. The form turns away messages that contain an email address, a phone number or a web link. Questions are emailed to us to give us ideas for future books and videos. They are not shown on the website. To stop spam, the server keeps a scrambled (hashed) code made from the sender's internet address and the times of recent sends. It is used only to limit how many questions can be sent in an hour, and it never includes the question.
Weekly activity email, for grown-ups only
Parents and teachers can sign up for a free activity email. That form asks only for an email address and is meant for adults. The list is run by MailerLite, an email service, which stores the address so the emails can be sent. Every email has an unsubscribe link. Kids should not sign up.
Share buttons
Question pages have share links for grown-ups: Email, WhatsApp, Facebook and Copy link. They are plain links. Nothing from Facebook or WhatsApp loads on our page, and nothing is shared unless someone taps a link and chooses to send it.
Videos, fonts and links to other sites
- The videos on our question pages are stored on our own server.
- Our pages use Google Fonts for their lettering. When a page loads, your browser downloads the fonts from Google, so Google receives the usual technical details of that request, such as the internet address.
- A few older pages, such as videos.html, show videos in YouTube's own player. YouTube may set its own cookies when a video plays there. Our book video pages and question pages use our own player.
- Links such as "Watch on YouTube", "Buy on Amazon", Apple Books and the source links under the fun facts open other websites, which have their own privacy rules.
Server logs
Like most websites, our web host keeps standard server logs, such as the internet address, browser type, page requested and time. They are used to keep the site running and secure.
Content for kids
Every question has a short, kid-friendly answer. The extra fun facts on question pages list the sources we checked. Activities that need help are marked for a grown-up, and a grown-up should be nearby for anything hot, sharp or electrical.
