Book 33, Question 96
What is a dewclaw?
Some dogs have an extra small toe on the inside of their front legs, higher up than the other toes.
It is called a dewclaw. It doesn’t touch the ground when the dog walks. Some dogs use it like a thumb to hold bones or to grip when climbing. Some dogs have them on the back legs too. Even animals in the same family can be a little different.
