Book 33, Question 46
Why do baby mammals squeak and cry?
Baby mammals use calls to tell their mothers what they need.
A hungry puppy whines, a kitten mews, and a baby seal bleats. Mothers listen carefully, because the call tells them where the baby is and how it feels. Some baby mice squeak at pitches too high for people to hear. A baby’s voice brings help.
