Book 33, Question 17
How do scientists sort mammals into groups?
Scientists put mammals into groups called orders.
The meat-eaters, such as dogs and bears, are carnivores. The rodents have gnawing teeth. Primates, like monkeys and people, have grasping hands. Hoofed animals include horses and deer. Animals that are in the same order share body features and a family history. Sorting helps scientists understand how mammals are related.
