Book 32, Question 89
Why are baby crocodiles so small next to their parents?
A hatchling crocodile is about as long as a school ruler, but a grown-up might be fifteen feet long.
Crocodiles keep growing for many years, so adults are far bigger than babies. In the early years, they grow fast, often a foot or more a year. Being small has some risks, so the babies stay hidden in plants and near their mother.
