Book 32, Question 81
How does an alligator mom build a nest?
A mother alligator piles up leaves, sticks, and mud into a big mound.
She lays her eggs in a hole in the middle. As the plants rot, they make gentle heat that keeps the eggs warm. She stays nearby to guard the nest. After the eggs hatch, she helps the babies out. A nest can be a few feet high, so stay away from the wild ones.
