Book 32, Question 22
Why do most lizards’ legs stick out to the sides?
Most lizards have their legs attached on the sides of their bodies, so their elbows bend outward and their bellies stay low.
When they run, their bodies swing from side to side. This design works well for scurrying and climbing over rocks. Dogs and cats have legs underneath their bodies, which is better for long runs. Different leg designs fit different ways of life.
