Book 32, Question 5
Do any snakes have leftover leg bones?
Pythons and boas have tiny claws called spurs near the base of the tail.
Under the skin, there are small bones that are leftovers of hips and back legs. Scientists think the ancestors of snakes had legs, and over a very long time the legs got smaller and smaller. These leftover bones are a clue from the past, like a story written inside the body.
