Book 31, Question 146
Why do so many small brown birds look alike?
Many small birds, such as sparrows, have brown and gray feathers streaked with darker marks.
These colors help them hide in grass, bushes, and on the ground. Birdwatchers sometimes jokingly call them LBJs, short for “little brown jobs.” To tell them apart, look at their beaks, stripes, spots, and where they are, and listen to their songs.
