Book 31, Question 141
What is a bird count, and how do scientists use it?
In a bird count, many people note the kinds and numbers of birds they see and share their lists.
One example is the Great Backyard Bird Count, held for a few days each winter. Scientists combine thousands of lists to make maps of where birds are and how their numbers change over time. Kids can join with a grown-up, and every list helps.
